Andrew Milk (b. 1985) is a sound, performance and visual artist based in Glasgow. He studied Illustration at Kent Institute of Art & Design. Andrew moved to London in 2009, where he became heavily engaged with the underground music community: establishing a DIY record label and
promoting queer and feminist punk events. Andrew began playing in bands with no previous experience but soon found himself touring internationally as a musician. Using pencils, inks, paints and found imagery and photocopiers, Andrew created: stage design, album artwork, gig posters, zines, merchandise and more to unite his visual and sound creative practices. "Art is about connection, with others and with yourself. It's essential for a happy life." |
The name 'Milk' originated from Andrew's time at university where he joined an existing event organiser at Club MILK putting on gigs. After moving to London he continued this venture alone as club MILK. At this time the reign of MySpace was ending, and numerous people, artists, punks and promoters would have their profile name as their pseudonym or what they wanted to promote most, and Andrew Milk was born.
His alter ego ‘Pink Pound’ is the larger-than-life drag demoness, charming coquette, and acerbic artiste persona that Andrew uses for solo performances and electronic music projects. |
