Matthew Thomas Squires b.1985 is a contemporary abstract painter based in Bedfordshire. 

His practice draws inspiration from various art movements  such as cubism, vorticism & expressionism.

Matthew's entrancing large scale artworks are devoted to the positioning of bold colours, harsh lines and sharp angles, His most recent works are an evolution of this multiplying and expanding out into more complex metropolitan and labyrinthian themes. 

Matthew spent over two decades in North London self studying and participating as an active member of various artist institutions and clubs. Alongside this Matthew held his own private studio practice where he experimented and further homed his skills as a painter. 

“The reason I paint, draw, and create art is I’ve always felt an affinity for it. An urge that always returns however long a period of inactivity. I love to use colour and explore forms of abstraction in a spontaneous way that I find aesthetically pleasing. I don’t like to claim any deeper reason for my work and all I hope is that other people take pleasure in what I create.” ​
